Ven Pongal/ South Indian Breakfast


Ven Pogal
                         

Pongal is a traditional South Indian breakfast dish. Pongal is most easiest and simplest break fast recipe.







Ingredients:-

Raw Rice - 1 cup
Mung Dhal(Payatham parupu) - 1/2 cup
Cumin Seed - 1tsp
Ghee - 1tsp
Water - 5 sups
Finley cut curry leaves few
Finely cut ginger - 1tbl.sp

For Seasoning:-

Green Chilli - 1 or 2 (opional)Cut length wise
black pepper - 1 1/2 tsp
cumin seed - 1tsp
cashew nuts- 1 tbl.sp

Method:-

Dry roast mung dhal in a pan till light brown in colour.

Wash it along with rice and pressure cook with cumin seed, ginger, ghee and water in reduce flame till one or two whistle.

After removing the lid, add salt, curry leaves mix well

Heat ghee in a pan and season with green chilli, black pepper, cumin seed, cashew nuts and pour over pongal , mix well 

Now the ven pongal is ready to serve 

You can serve pongal with coconut chutney, sambar and vadai (uluthamparuppu vadai)






Note:- 

If pongal is watery when you open then you can cook untill the water is evaporates. While cooking you stir well.

If it is too dry then add boiled water or hot milk to bring desire consistency.
